Catering Firm Bans Fish From Menu
Contract caterers, Compass Group, have banned the use of sixty nine species of fish due to concerns of over fishing.
The company provides food at 6,500 restaurants across the UK including Proctor & Gamble, Bristol Zoo, Chelsea Football Club and various schools.
Banned species include certain varieties of tuna, skate, plaice, tiger prawns, salmon and lobster.
The catering firm implemented its sustainable seafood guidelines at the end of last year based on findings by the Marine Conservation Society.
It is designed to help protect the most vulnerable and over fished species.
Compass will continue to update its guide lines as per advice from the MCS.
