The tick tock of the climate clock
According to the UN’s top climate official, time is running out to agree to a new treaty on global warming. A new UN climate treaty is due to be adopted in Copenhagen in December.
The decisions have been delayed because of disagreements over key issues such as which countries should commit to reducing their levels of greenhouse gases. For example, should large emitters such as China and India be included in the treaty commitments.
If you ask me, then yes, they should. As two of the largest emitters, along with Europe and Japan, then surely the treaty will not be successful without their help.
And let’s face it, when it comes to our environment, we need all the help we can get.
